A good egg
Greenheart has developed a long-term partnership with Noble Foods, a leading producer of fresh food, primarily in egg production and egg-based products as well as milling of animal feed. As its integrated impact partner, we have helped to build and implement its impact strategy across all areas of the business, including environment, people and animals. Our role is to be a flexible and on-hand partner to support it where it’s needed to reach its goal of minimising harm and maximising positive impact.

The goal: to support delivery against their purpose; to better nourish people, animals and the planet.
Noble Foods is the UK’s leading vertically integrated egg business. It works with a network of farms, packing centres, feed mills and egg and hen processors across the country, ensuring quality and traceability. The agrifood sector faces big challenges not only to decarbonise but also to be mindful of its wider impact on the environment, people and animals.
Noble Foods is ambitious in how it addresses sustainability challenges and opportunities faced by the agrifood sector. The team knew that to meet those ambitions, it would need expert help at both a strategic and operational level.
What we did: Flexible expertise that made a difference
Greenheart was chosen as Noble Food’s holistic impact partner, primarily to support their B Corp journey, working with both leadership and operational teams to refine, validate and then execute the company’s business-wide impact strategy. This included:
- Helping to build a robust and realistic impact strategy, including annual and 2030 goals, public commitments and tangible milestones to track progress.
- Providing critical friendship, leadership engagement and accountability and workstream support for internal Noble teams.
- Supporting Noble Foods with the implementation of the impact strategy, including the provision of technical experts in key areas of the strategy. This included projects such as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the creation of a nature/biodiversity assessment.
- Co creating an internal governance structure for implementing the agreed impact strategy. This will include training, internal communications, progress tracking, how to upskill internal teams in relevant impact areas.
- Creating a bespoke supplier risk assessment, supplier engagement plan and guidance for the engagement of specific supplier categories.
- Investigating greenhouse gas emission sources on individual sites and the creation of site-specific action plans for the reduction of impact across GHG emissions,
- Supporting internal teams with the development of an Taskforce for Nature Related Disclosure (TNFD) materiality assessment to understand key impacts and opportunities for nature and biodiversity.
- Supporting a water risk assessment to build a water stewardship strategy and associated targets.
- Developing a context-specific justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) strategy and plan.
- Building a full stakeholder map and engagement plan.
- Aligning these projects, as well as a whole host of other actions, across the business aligned with B Corp requirements, including the new standards
The outcome: an impact strategy to be proud of
Noble Foods is proudly working towards B Corp certification, using the framework to inform its strategy with Greenheart’s support. We are a consistent and reliable member of the extended team, supporting different functional leads throughout the business as well as offering regular advice to the leadership team to keep them on track towards social and environmental improvement.
Moments that Mattered
When working on the company’s supplier risk assessment, we saw it being adopted by all the business units and being used as a basis for a supplier engagement rollout so that engagement efforts could be focused on where the biggest impacts were. Similarly, the site action plans we created were used to identify both easy wins – like site insulation and longer-term projects like electrification of heating units to save energy and improve operational efficiency.
