Thomas Bourne

Founder & Chief Ecosystem Officer

Tom is an experienced impact consultant, speaker and advocate who acts as a trusted strategic partner to purpose-led businesses and investors. A commercial employment lawyer by background, Thomas developed a practice supporting corporate transactions for private equity clients in the consumer sector and earned a reputation for a pragmatic commercial approach. In 2012, Thomas took part in the UK’s first masters-level course on the Circular Economy and developed a passionate belief in the opportunities and benefits of the ‘triple bottom line’ approach to business. He left law in 2014 and joined an organic food production and retail business as interim Managing Director where he turned the business around before supporting the shareholders through the successful sale of the business to a trade buyer. One of the first trained B Leaders in the UK, Thomas has helped more than 20 companies with their B Impact Assessment and 12 through to full B Corp certification. He is UK B Corp Ambassador as well as a former trustee of the Soil Association and has sat on the advisory panels of a number of impact related foundations. With regenerative leadership principles firmly at the core of his work, Tom has overall stewardship for the health and evolution of the living system that is Greenheart, ensuring it develops in service of, and true alignment with, its Purpose. Tom and his wife Georgia are the sole shareholders in Greenheart.

Lead Consultant (Environmental Impact & Planetary Health)

Emma is an experienced sustainability consultant who has worked with businesses from a wide range of sectors. She has been a consultant and an in house environmental manager in both the corporate and charity sectors. Following her degree in Applied Environmental and Resources Science, she specialised in environmental management, becoming an advanced ISO14001 auditor. Emma particularly enjoys engaging, motivating and working with people to empower them to be confident changemakers. She shares her passion for the natural world and social justice by reconnecting people with nature and local communities. Being passionate about facilitating the transition to a circular and regenerative business ethos, she is developing her capacity to accompany businesses on their regenerative journey.

Prior to consulting, she managed startup incubation and corporate innovation programmes - helping entrepreneurs and C-suite executives alike turn ideas into new businesses, or transform existing ones. Passionate about leveraging business to build a world that is inclusive and regenerative, Lucie strives to deliver pragmatic and actionable advice while encouraging clients to set ambitious goals and roadmaps. She is committed to taking an intersectional approach to environmentalism, and particularly interested in making circular business models convenient and accessible to all. In her spare time, she volunteers as a startup mentor and contributes to several impact-focused think-and-do tanks.

Lead Ecosystem Facilitator (Head of Operations)

Danielle is an experienced business manager with a particular focus on operationalising positive impact strategies. Before joining Greenheart, she held senior positions in a variety of growing small businesses as well as running her own B Corp consultancy, helping organisations embed social and environmental impact into their everyday operations. Her background has always been steeped in business management including gaining an MBA from Warwick Business School. The early part of her career was in commercial and project roles in the energy sector both in the UK and Australia where she lived for three years. She is an advocate for inclusion and diversity in business especially championing female entrepreneurs and leaders. In her spare time, she can usually be found walking in the Herefordshire countryside or curled up with a book.

Shlesha is a trained B Leader and experienced analyst with over ten years of experience in academic, industry and market research. She has worked as an impact advisor and business development consultant to startups, SMEs and social enterprises in South East Asia and the UK. Shlesha completed her tertiary education in the US and the UK and holds a MSc in Social Policy & Planning from the London School of Economics. She takes a detail-oriented, multidisciplinary and multi-sector approach to her work and has a passion for creating positive change. Shlesha is interested in understanding and mitigating the impacts of the global food system on climate change and food security, with a focus on creating lasting change through policy transformations, corporate buy in and individual action. She is currently working with her business partner to develop a Nepali inspired sustainable food brand.

Tatty is a trained B Leader and founded a sustainability and comms consultancy prior to joining Greenheart, helping companies across a wide range of sectors through the B Corp process and advising them on how to improve their impact. Having completed the Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership course, she strongly believes that businesses are in a position to have a positive impact on the world. Her background is in sales and marketing, with over 8 years experience across a variety of purpose-driven businesses, from early stage startups to hyper-growth companies. During that time she spent several years living abroad in Argentina, Paris and Dubai as well as working across Europe, learning about different cultures, ways of life and ways of doing business. Away from work, she’s happiest by the sea or in the mountains.

David Cavell

Senior Environmental Consultant

Davey is a sustainability professional with a background in geoscience and a PhD in Earth Sciences. His academic work has taken him to Colombia, Chile, Greece and the Solomon Islands looking at interactions between people, hazards and resources. He gained a strong interest in sustainable development in geoscience from these experiences. Following completion of his doctorate he worked in environmental management for construction, gaining valuable insights and experience in the practical application and use of environmental management systems. During this time he also developed a keen interest in ecological management and biodiversity metrics. Most recently, he has worked for a start-up conducting life cycle assessment and impact assessment work for the mining, battery and energy sectors. Outside of work, he retains a keen interest in research and teaching. Currently, he is working with an international team on Just Transition research. When relaxing, he enjoys history podcasts, cycling and hiking.

Fern Spencer

Senior Consultant

Fern doesn’t take the term sustainability lightly and understands how difficult it can be for businesses to work towards it. She has a background in environmental science, helping her to sense check her work. Fern’s previous role involved supporting all kinds of corporate and government organisations to understand their GHG emissions, and more importantly how they are going to decarbonise. She also enjoyed helping clients to understand their climate related risks and opportunities, how these may change over time and can inform business planning. She is always looking for opportunities to collaborate and find linkages across multiple areas, such as decarbonisation, resource management, biodiversity and social equity. Outside of work, I love being outside like most people in the sector. I also love knitting, baking (and eating), and woodwork.

Daisy has specialist knowledge of B Corp Certification and broad knowledge across the sustainability agenda and reporting landscape. Before joining Greenheart, Daisy worked at the heart of the B Corp movement guiding companies through the review process at B Lab UK. Over the last 9 years she’s gained experience in business impact and sustainability strategy starting in the sailing industry and worked for a FTSE250 manufacturing company along the way navigating the challenges large businesses face in implementing change. Daisy uses her strong beliefs in equity and integrity to guide companies along their impact journeys. Based in Devon, she is passionate about business in the South West bringing people together to harness opportunities and solve problems at a local level. Away from work, her time is spent exploring the coast or working on the next craft project.

Ella has a deep enthusiasm for regenerative business models and holds a University of London Master's degree in Environment and Sustainability. She has a wealth of experience that spans the third, public and private sectors and came to Greenheart with the determination to work collaboratively with forward-thinking organisations committed to using their business as a force for good. Prior to joining the ecosystem Ella worked for Charities Aid Foundation where she specialised in the delivery of bespoke Impact Advisory projects centred on the strategic development and amplification of corporate clients’ social and environmental impact initiatives. She is a creative thinker and in addition to her consultancy work has successfully managed projects in the SEN and environmental education spaces. She has a passion for stakeholder engagement and believes in a participatory and insights-based approach to business transformation and strategy development.

Sal spent the first twenty years of her career working in media and tech and in 2019 decided to follow her instincts and retrain in business sustainability. Using her commercial acumen and experience, Sal loves working with organisations to help them decouple business growth from negative environmental and societal impact, and is passionate about circular business model innovation and the opportunities that can bring. She is a B Leader who highly values the B Corp framework as a catalyst for change, and really enjoys engaging stakeholders throughout each business in the B Corp journey. In her spare time Sal campaigns against sewage pollution in our waterways. She lives by the sea with her rescue dog Charlie, where she swims and paddle-boards throughout the year.

As the Inclusive Hiring Lead for The Body Shop UK & Global, she championed 'Open Hiring,' increasing diversity hires in entry-level roles from 12% to 70% in under 12 months. Passionate about people, impact, and purpose, Antonia employs an intersectional approach to develop inclusive strategies that benefit diverse populations. She partners with organisations to integrate these practices and mentors individuals, empowering them to overcome barriers to employment. Before entering the retail sector, Antonia spent seven years in the criminal justice system, managing the effective resettlement of individuals with convictions and receiving a commendation for her impactful work, which highlights her dedication to social justice and community transformation.

Before joining Greenheart, Helena spent the first 20 years of her career running a distribution business in the plumbing industry and learnt more than anyone should ever know about taps! With her finance and operational experience, she has gone on to support other SMEs in various sectors supporting them to perform at their best. As a true organiser at heart, Helena is at her happiest when setting up systems that support business operations and the people that use them. She thrives on working with others to make sense out of data in order to drive progress. Her experience has given her the ability to zoom out and look at business from a holistic angle. Outside of work, Helena loves swimming outdoors, interior design, trying new recipes, and stopping to talk to every dog she meets on a walk.
